Evaluations

Effective speech therapy begins with an accurate diagnosis.  If you feel that speech therapy may be necessary, you will first receive a thorough evaluation.  The results of the evaluation will be discussed with you and treatment goals will be set, with written benchmarks for success.  There are two types of evaluations we do:

        Speech/Language Medical Evaluation

  • Includes a review of previous records, administration of formal and informal measures of articulation or language, oral-motor exam and a written report.
  • If you have one of the insurance plans that we accept, we will bill your insurance company for this evaluation, once all deductibles are met.

       Speech/Language Educational Evaluation

  • Includes a review of previous records, administration of formal and informal measures of articulation or language, oral-motor exam, a visit to your child's school, interview with classroom teacher, review of school records, observation in the classroom and written report.
  • We do not accept insurance payment for educational evaluations.

Speech Therapy

Individual therapy sessions are for 30 minutes.  Therapy is scheduled on a weekly basis with a time that is regularly reserved for you.  Because of this, we ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations, unless the client is suddenly sick.  Without 24 hours cancellation notice, you will be charged for the missed session.

Clients are billed in a timely manner for therapy sessions.  Checks and credit cards are accepted.

Insurance Plans

Cornerstone Speech & Language is a New Jersey speech therapy provider with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Amerihealth, Qualcare, Tricare, and Medicare.   We are not a Horizon NJ Family Care provider.   We will gladly check your coverage and give you a written response from your insurance company of your eligibility for coverage for speech therapy.  We will submit claims to these providers on your behalf.  However, if your insurance does not pay the amount that you expect or there is a delay in payment for more than 60 days, you will be responsible for the outstanding balance due.  Often, insurance providers limit coverage to speech therapy to "restorative" therapy, meaning that if you had the ability to speak and lost it due to an illness of accident, it is more likely to be covered under insurance than if your speech is delayed or impaired in childhood.

Many families have a certain deductible that must be met before insurance coverage begins.  If you have not met your deductible, we must collect the full amount from you at the time the service is rendered. When your deductible is met, we will bill your insurance company for the claim.

If you are not a member of the insurance companies listed above, you must pay for services at the time they are rendered, even if it is expected that a third party will cover some portion of the cost.  We will prepare an itemized bill with accurate diagnosis and procedural codes for you to submit to your insurance company.
